We will begin our look at shohada not by looking at a Sheikh, or one who has studied Islamic law for numerous years to truly develop an understanding for this life and the hereafter. We want to look at someone younger, someone whom we can connect with more, someone who may not have been able to write a book about Imam Hussein (AS) and his stance in Karbala, but a Muslim who had the ability to distinguish true haqq and true batel. And after realizing this difference, knew what he had to do...

Name: Shahid Mahdi Abdollahi Poorshirazi
Father's Name: Abbas
Mohter's Name: Zahra Sadeqi
Year of Date of Birth: 1970
Year of Shahadat: 1987
Place of Birth: Rafsanjan/Lahijan, Iran
Shahid Mahdi Poorshirazi had only one year left to get his high-school diploma when he answered his Imam's call to stand. At this young age, he had the opportunity to go to the front lines three times, nine months each. Seventeen days after the martyrdom of his brother he was able to achieve martyrdom.
People remember Shahid Mahdi as a very calm young man, always to himself. He enjoyed going to school and would study alone in his room, reviewing for himself the sayings of our Imams. He would try to memorize the smaller ahadith by writing them down, for example in one of his notebooks he had written: "Imam Baqir (AS) said: Showing off and becoming jealous are not of the qualities of a mo'min, unless they are looking to encourage themselves towards knowledge."
Truly if we all set time aside to familiarize ourselves with the infallibiles sayings, if we frame each of their sayings and keep it with us all the time, we would also have the honor of reaching the level of shahadat.
Quote from Shahid Mahdi's will:
Out of respect for the blood that shaheed have spilt, continue along in their path. Come become a soldier for Islam. All of you should join the path of Imam Hussein's shaheed. My last request to each person who reads my will is that I want each one of you to fight with your wants and your desires in the same manner as we fight on the battlefields in war. By doing so, you will be able to rid the devil from your souls, so that you can to achieve the reward of shahadat.
Our Message to our readers:
Our world is nothing more than a game, one one side we have people who want to help and raise themselves in Allah (SWT) eyes and stand for what is right, and on the other we have those who wish to oppress others only for their own needs. They do not take their community or their society into account and only do what is right for them. They are even ready to walk over somebody else's rights to get what they want. But we all know, in the end who will truly be the winners and who will be the losers...Be very careful of your deeds in this world for the only one who can testify against them in the next world is you...
Some things to think about...
Have you ever thought of the word Jihaad? This word has come numerous times in the Quran, and nowadays over and over again in the media, but have we really sat down to think about what this word truly means!
We, who claim to be Muslims and hold the Quran as the light of our lives, should we not make our decisions based on what it says?
We, who claim to be the Shia of Imam Ali (AS), how often do we read his Nahjul Balagheh in a week, or even in a month for that matter...
Is a Shia of Imam Ali (AS) only identified through the tears and latmiyehs for Imam Hussein (AS)?
The shohada, regardless of their age, their level of knowledge, their stature in this world, answered all these questions for themselves. They only saw one thing in this world and that was to please Allah (SWT). To give all that they could in His path, so that they could meet with their master on the Day of Judgment. Should we not be able to do the same...
